Question: How do I do maintanance on my treadmill?
Question Description:
I bought a treadmill about 6 months ago, and didn't buy the service plan because it was so expensive. I just want to know what I should do to make sure it stays in tip top shape... I use it almost everyday. It is a Proform XP 680 from Sears.
Answer#1: One big thing, is to make sure if you go to use it one day and it is acting differently then before, to find out whats wrong (consult user manual, or ask someone at sears, etc they are usually willing to help even if you dont have the warranty.) To keep it in good shape, health wise. You need to wipe it down with antibacterial, you know how when you are shopping, sometimes they spray a disenfectant/cleaner such as windex or something on the conveyer (sp?) belt then wipe it as it moves. You can do that. do not let the belt run under the top, while its wet, because it could mess up the machinerry, turn it on really low, and spray the part that has just come out from underneath and wipe it down, let it go through a few cycles repeating this process, do this every few months. If you use this machine extremely often, every few days, or even every single day after each use (like they urge at the YMCA) wipe down the handlebar, or anything that you touched. Sweat has a lot of bacteria in it, so if youve been jogging on your treadmill, then you hit the button to make it stop, maybe grab the bar to step down or for stability, you transfer a lot of bacteria, that can eat away at the finish of your treadmill, and cause you to get unneeded bacteria back into your body, which can cause you to get sick. I wish I still had the motivation to work out often. Toodles :)
Answer#2: Do like most people and don't ever use it and it shouldn't give you any problems
