Question: Bowflex???

Question Description:
I have an elliptical trainer/stepper and am thinking about getting something different. I usually use free weights - would you recommend a Bowflex though?

Answer#1: It depends on what your looking for. Free weights are obviously the best but I have seen bow flex work for some people. The problem with bow flex is that it is resistance training which doesn't work your muscles as well as weights do. It is much harder to get "cut" on a bow flex. For the most part I suggest using free weights as much as possible.

Answer#2: They're expensive but I love mine.

Answer#3: The Bowflex is a great machine for the average person. The problem is, the majority of people who get home equipment like a Bowflex or Soloflex only use them for the first few weeks or whatever, and then they just sit there taking up space and costing a lot of money. So, if you believe that you'll very likely continue to use the machine on the regular basis and would rather work-out at home than go to a facility, go for it..

Answer#4: i've heard they are really expensive...your better off getting a memberhsip at the Y.
