Question: bowflex for weight loss?
Question Description:
I am considering buying a bowflex for the purpose of weight loss. It seemed the last time I had a large weight loss (2 years ago) I was really ripping it off by strength training. I know that aerobic exercise burns calories, but I want to burn calories when I am at rest, as well .. i.e., I want to build muscle. Is this a good way to start?
Answer#1: Strength training will help you become leaner, but you may notice a small weight increase at first since muscle is denser than fat. It is possible to change your physique without an extreme weight change. If you're primary goal is to loose weight, work with light to moderate weight to tone muscles. Your intensity while excercising makes a big difference. If you work out consistantly, your muscle tissue will rebuild itself as you rest which in turn burns calories. Combining strength training with aerobic exercise like riding a bicycle will burn even more calories. Good luck!!
Answer#2: I think it's a great way to start. But don't use Bowflex only. While using Bowflex, you can also lift weights (not at the same time, of course) or bench press. I know this may sound weird for a guy, but try aerobics.
