Question: Las Vegas, Downtown, Gym - FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE!?

Question Description:
First, do not answer with, "Check the website of the hotels in the area" or "I think there might be a chain gym somewhere near downtown." I am looking for someone who can give me an ANSWER BASED ON FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE! Vacationing in Vegas later this month. Staying downtown, but our hotel has no gym. Is there a good gym in or very near downtown, that offers a workout at decent day rate? Note: Want a real gym - with full weights, nautilus or similar machines, some aerobic.

Answer#1: I had the same dilema on my last Las Vegas trip. I think the Golden Nugget is the only downtown hotel that has a gym, and of course, it's only for registered guests. I did find that Gold's Gym has a one day pass for $15, or one week for $35. Just walk in and pay your money. The nearest one to downtown is at 3750 E. Flamingo. It's not too far, but far enough off the beaten path that you'll need a car or taxi. From downtown, take the 95 to the 515 south, get off at Flamingo and go west to Sandhill, it will be in the shopping center on the right, past Sandhill. You can also take Fremont Street until it turns into Boulder Highway, turn right on Flamingo. That way, you can hit up the casinos on Boulder Highway on the way. Just make it the way back, or you'll never make it to the gym. :-)
