Question: Is the Eliptical exercise machine safe to use if I have plantar fasciitis (foot problem)? Any thoughts?

Question Description:
I presently use a treadmill but found that my feet still hurt. The eliptical machine seemed like a good alternative, less stress in the long run on my feet and other joints (as I age).

Answer#1: so you have flat feet.... thats what plantar fasciitis is right? The best solution would be for you to go see your podiatrist and get some inserts for your shoes to make runing and walking more comfortable for you. An eliptical machine is ok, but people with flat feet walk different and the motion range of the eliptical often feels very awkward at first to someone with that condition. I would recommend exercise bike, because it takes your weight off of you feet and still allows you to work your legs very well.

Answer#2: Yes I would think it's safe because of the less stress that's on the joints and feet. I enjoy the elptical over the treadmill
