Question Description:
When I walk, jog, or do the eliptical my calves hurt and are get really sore, if I do not do any cardio than?how can I lose weight? I stretch before I exercise and I do not exercise for that long.......30 minutes, I do not know why my calves are so weak, the rest of my body is fine after exercise, my calves hurt right now, I did the eliptical yesterday for 30 minutes
Answer#1: It takes a while for your muscles to get use to the exercises, the elliptical should be worked into at first never more than 5 minutes and add a couple of minutes to it every few days. Same with any of the exercises it may seem like your doing nothing to only do a few minutes of each but in time you will be doing as long as you like without any problems...going slow beats quitting all together. I find I lose faster by doing cardio first then slowing it down and just walking on the treadmill for about 30 minutes..I don't have alot of luck if I just do cardio, I know its helping my heart but I just don't lose weight that way. This might work for you too.
Answer#2: This will pass with time, esp since u are doing stretches, we can assume it is not injury. Take care though, it could be shin splints.
Answer#3: it could be a lot of things... muscle strain from overtraining or not stretching well enough, dehydration, low potassium, and many more possibilities. I suggest you go see your physician.
Answer#4: thats normal as you get more used to doing it it will hurt less your using muscles you normally dont use its gonna hurt for awhile
Answer#5: do they almost feel cramped up?Try to take a magnesium supplement..
