Question: Is a Bowflex home gym worth the investment?
Question Description:
I am currently expecting my second (and last child). I really want to get back into shape once the baby is born, so my husband and I are seriously considering purchasing a Boxflex home gym (he wants to use it as well). We already have purchased a good quality elliptical machine, so we want something that will work on muscle tone and definition. Plus, I hate free weights. Has anyone had good results with it? Does it only take 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week like they claim? Also, which model would you recommend? Thanks a lot!
Answer#1: I own a Bowflex Ultimate 2 which is good for training every muscle group. I've had it for 2 years now and it works great. I definitely see a difference in my strength and muscle definition. The only thing is that it won't take you 6 weeks to get in shape if you work out 3 times a week for 20 minutes. You have to put in at least 40-45 minutes 4-5 times a week to get good results. I highly recommend it though.......good luck!
Answer#2: LIke any exercise, you get out of it what you put into it. If you only do 20 minutes a day x 3, don't expect much. Forget the advertisements, it's about how much work you make your body do. 20 x 3 will tone you a little in the short term, but you'll see the changes slow down and cease very quickly. and that's only if 20x3 is an increase from what you already do. So, yes, 20x3 will show some results for a couch potato, but not much. You'll have to work for your fitness. That's just the way the body works.
Answer#3: this is how ive always felt about buying exercise equipment........you can't put a price on your physical well-being. Do your research and if you feel like you will use it and it will help you, go for it
Answer#4: If you use it. Some people buy the thing, and all it does is collect dust after a month or so.
