Question: what exercise bike is good for cardio?
Question Description:
ok at my gym theres 2 kind of stationary bicycles...1 is a regular one where you dont move your arms, and the other is a air dyne by schwin..where you DO move your arms (also seems more fun)...anybody have experience with the air dyne and know of its benefits in comparison to regular stationary bikes? regular bike ---------->http://www.exercise-bike-review.com/New_Balance_6_0_Stationary_Bike.jpgair dyne bike -----------> http://www.derri-air.com/images/fitness_1.jpg
Answer#1: I would say both give you these benefits:1. Rev up your heart rate, so your heart is nicely exercised to keep it strong and healthy2. Crank up your metabolism to burn body fatSince the objectives of a cardio exercise are to achieve the above-mentioned two, use either one or both of them alternately, will suffice for your need.
Answer#2: Either or both will get the job done. When I'm forced indoors by bad weather, I rotate. Half hour on elliptical, half hour on stationary bike, half hour on the treadmill, etc. No reason to choose. Do both.
Answer#3: It all comes down to personal preference and which bike is going to keep you motivated longer. Maybe you need some variety to keep you motivated so you use both. I would choose the regular bike. For myself I would not use a bike unless it was in a spin class. An elliptical trainer is the way to go. Often they have the arms that move as well. They burn more calories and are considered low impact. If you are looking for a real challenge jump on a Stair Mill. Your options on that are almost limitless and it is an incredible cardio high!!
Answer#4: One that's actually ridden - and not just another piece of furniture in your home
