Question: Will an exercise bike make me gain muscle?
Question Description:
I'M SKINNY AND HAVE AN EXERCISE BIKE LIKE THIS ONE:http://www.derri-air.com/images/fitness_1.jpgNow, my question is, WILL IT HELP ME GAIN MUSCLE? If yes, what part of the body.If so, how many times a week and how many minutes/hours a day should I go on it if I want to have muscles?
Answer#1: No. Cycling helps you get in a great shape and is a great cardio. Your muscles will be stronger, but you won't gain much mass, if that's what you want. You don't turn fat into muscle, they're completely different stuff. Cycling could help you burn fat and gain some stamina, and then do some weight training to gain muscle.
Answer#2: Like any exercise, this will take your existing fat and convert it into muscle. Just cycling will give you a very lean muscle definition. However, like anything else, what you eat will dictate how much muscle you gain. You need protien to build muscle. Eat a lot and then work hard to convert this into muscle.Rather than just spinning, I would look at a more rounded exercise. Cycling will burn weight but is not as good as other methods at bulking out. Luck
Answer#3: Exercise bike is a poor way to increase muscle mass. Legs and butt only. Like the 1st answer weight training is easily the #1 way. I assume you're young, maturity brings on increased muscle mass. Sometimes, when you're young and thin it just won't happen to a large extent. And let me tell ya this, thin is in, when you're 30 and you have a gut you'll say what was I thinkin' back then!!!
Answer#4: yes, but you'd be better off weight training. You can specify muscle groups that way. Biking works your butt and legs mostly.
