Question: strength training?
Question Description:
why are u not suppose do strength training exercises everyday(lift eights, crunches)?what will happen if u do besides u will be sore and maybe hurt ur muscles?
Answer#1: Actually you can, but you don't want to use the same exertion two days in a row (i.e. lifting heavy consecutive days for the same muscles). Instead you can lift heavy one day and go light the next. But you might want to be sure that you have lifted for a while (constantly for 6 months or longer). Example that lets you do this are ice speed skaters. They basically work their leg muscles everyday, but not at the same intensity.
Answer#2: You are not supposed to do strength training every day, because it causes micro-tears in your muscle. When you give yourself 48 hours to rest, your muscles heal and strengthen. However, if you lift every day, these tears continue. Essentially you tear your muscles apart and you will become injured.
Answer#3: Your muscles need a chance to repair themselves after strength training. Lactic acid build up is the main culprit of soreness the next day, but when you push yourself to yout limit you can also create tiny tears in your muscle tissue which need time to repair.Nothing terrible will happen to you if you strength train every day, but consider taking a couple days off a week. If you're muscles are constantly in a state of repair it will be hard to maximize the effectiveness of your workout.
