Question: strength training vs cardio Losing Weight Fast?

Question Description:
I heard strength training can do as much as cardio in the battle of the bulge. Can I use resistance training to replace cardio for fast weight loss. Chuck Norris says I can. Is Mr Norris "pulling my leg".

Answer#1: Progressive resistance training or weight training has many more metabolic benefits over cardio alone.Lifting weights will help you to gain a little extra muscle thus burning 100 more calories per day per pound of muscle gained. The thermogenic effect of anaerobic training(like weight lifting) can last up to 15 hours after the training session is over while with cardio it ends soon after you're out of your target heart range.Adding a short cardio after your weight training session will help burn even more fat because you've depleted your glycogen stores.I've read clinical research to support everything that I've said here.Don't forget that you'll have an added metabolic and insulin mitigating effect by splitting your meals into 6-8 per day with smaller portions.Limit the amount of carbohydrates and concentrate on lean protein and fresh fruits and vegetables.I'm pretty sure that I answered one of your questions on Ephedra before. It's about to be taken off of the market again so what the suppliers have is it.No more. But you can can still buy all of the cigarettes and booze that you want because apparently those things don't cause health problems.Hope this helps.Joe

Answer#2: See this site to realy understand for yourself under exercise and never be confused about it again.http://phifoundation.org

Answer#3: Decide what you want: a better physique, weight-loss, just a healthy looking body, or a healthy body? From what you wrote, it looks like you're leaning to the better physique side of things, but you also want the weight loss. Check out the website "www.seriousstrength.com".
