Question: Does strength training burn calories?
Question Description:
Is it true that if you do strength training and build muscle, you will burn more calories throughout the day? If it is true, is it a substantial amount?
Answer#1: Muscle burns more than fat so if you can reduce you overall body fat, you will be increasing your muscle and will therefore burn more when you exercise and boost you metabolic rate to allow you to burn more throughout the day.
Answer#2: the more muscle you have, the calories you burn
Answer#3: It sure does. And the workout fat burning effect stays with you longer about (3 times longer) than a straight cardio workout. And yes to more muscle burns more calories even when you're not moving. Have a look at the link...good luck
Answer#4: Doing cardio will burn more calories than strength training WHILE you're doing it.HOWEVER. The more muscle you have on your body will cause you to be burning more calories at all times because muscle needs more energy to maintain itself than fat. So do a little of both, but gaining some muscle will help you burn more calories even on days when you do no exercise at all.
Answer#5: well as appose to sitting on the couch yes..but cardio burns more calories than strength trainingc'mon now think a little bit
Answer#6: Yes, this is true, but not very many more calories :]
