Question: i am trying to build up my calves in the gym , what,s the best exercise?
Question Description:
would using a step machine build my calves up ?????
Answer#1: Running will help, as will doing loads of calf raises. Another thing a friend of mine did which worked very well (but not particularly practical for everyone) was he bought some weights that are designed to be strapped around your lower leg which allow you to cover them with trousers and walk around all day building up your calves at the same time!
Answer#2: One of my friends does spinning class at the gym and has remarkable calf muscles! This is basically a class on exercise bikes, where the speed and tension of the bike goes up and down throughout the class (as if you were cycling up and down hills). Ask if there are classes at your gym or look at the noticeboard. I think they are pretty popular so you may need to book in advance. Hope this helps!
Answer#3: Calves are notoriously difficult to bulk up unless you've got the right genetic potential, they're one of those muscles that can get very strong without getting very big. You'll need to be doing calf raises with very heavy weights to see growth. Obviously don't just start doing them too heavy or you'll get injured!
Answer#4: Rebounding would probably be good
Answer#5: stand on a step with your heels hanging off the back and slowly lower and lift yourself up
Answer#6: calve raises....lots off themfeet parallelheels out (pidgeon toe)heels in (ballerina)back to parallelhold on tippy toes & pulse...For additional torture add weights - and go until you can't do anymore....and yes running too!
Answer#7: Have them run, run, run. They would do better in a pasture than a gym. Oh.......... calves....you mean.......nevermind.
Answer#8: running... running and more running
