Question: Whey Protein?
Question Description:
I exercise alot, and want to build stronger, healthier muscles. My question is, if I take Whey Protein, will it also aid in weight loss as well?
Answer#1: the 1st poster is correct. medical study has proven that blended proteins are optimum for aiding in decreasing the body fat. they are metabolized at a slower rate so there is more of a slow release of amino acids into the bloodstream, a very effective anti-catabolic effect. whey protein is very rapidly digested and metabolized causing more of a spike in the concentration of amino acids in the bloodstream.
Answer#2: more protein=more muscle=faster weight loss
Answer#3: It is not really possible to get bigger and smaller at the same time. Work on reducing your body fat/weight then concentrate on building muscle bulk. The kind of formula as far as protein shakes varies depending on what you are trying to acheive. For bulking up they are much higher in carbs and calories than protein shakes for weight loss. I do not think it is important in your case to use whey protein so long as you are eating protein with every meal.
Answer#4: It could. But the key fact about way protein is this: it is rapidly digested. So it's not the end all/be all of proteins. It's good for right after a workout. At other times, you should look for a casein blend as it's a slower digesting protein. If you load up just on whey, you are gonna have a lot of rancid gas and that's not fun for anyone. The real key for fat loss is aerobic activity though.
