Question: Should men use Soy protein for weight training?


Question Description:
I used to use Soy protein to substitute for whey, but I thought I noticed less "pump" after workouts and also my sexual drive seemed to decrease. I suspect plant estrogens may be to blame, but I'm not a specialist. Can anyone cast any light onto this?

Answer#1: You listen to Patrick. Soy is an excellent source of all the aminoacids, essential AND nonessential. Your muscles are made of protein, and protein is made of...guess what?


Answer#2: Look man, regardless of what you may hear, soy is very good for you. In order to have even a minor estrogenic side effect from soy, you would need to consume your body weight worth of it per day. However, do not replace whey with soy, whey is much more absorbable post-workout. Take it or leave it, but this is the truth.
