Question: I heard using soy protein instead of a whey supplement has a side effect of breasts in men, any truth in that?

Question Description:
I use protein supplement when I lift and workout. I, by chance, have always used whey protein. A buddy of ours once bought soy and this was questioned by others we lifted with. Is there any clinical findings or truth to this, and is there a benefit to one over the other?

Answer#1: soy beans contain phyto estrogen's this estrogen's are similar to female estrogen's but they are week they are not powerful enough to cause mammary development .The isolated soy protein is clean it doesn't contain phyto estrogen's at all. Some of the brands that sale complete soy protein with the phyto estrogen's are intended for female use

Answer#2: My wife couldn't take estrogen when she went through menopause because she got bad side effects from it. She read that soy beans had large amounts of plant estrogen in them. She started eating soybeans, tofu (made from soybeans, and drinking soy milk. She said that it made a difference. People with diabetes now can inject themselves with Humulin Insulin but up until 10 to 15 years ago they had to use insulin that they harvested from pigs, It worked fine in humans. People who have low levels of thyroid hormone used to take pills that were made from crushed and purified animal thyroid glands, it worked fine in humans. There are many plant substances that have effects in humans. I don't know if taking protein made from soybeans will cause breast problems or not, but even if it doesn't, I don't want to take large amounts of plant estrogen into my body. I don't lift so I don't take protein tablets as I did when I was in my teens and lifted. But I won't eat tofu, eat soybeans, or drink soy milk. I don't want to take any type of estrogen into my body. Maybe someone else will know of any research. I would be interested also.

Answer#3: no no no...nonsensebut soy protein, you may already no, is incomplete (not all amino acids), unlike animal products and quality shakes

Answer#4: You should research soy. A real hustle was worked on the American public by the soybean interests. I'm not conversant in the chemistry of it, but its worth you and your buds looking into.
