Question #31: Question to do with weightlifting workout schedule and eliptical machine?
I was told that you ca't work out all your muscle
every time you go to the gym. I was told that you
have to do certain parts each time, work them hard
and then let them rest to see results. Would doing
your upper body one time and then your lower body
be wrong? Should I do arms and shoulders, then
back and chest, and then legs and bum? Could I
work my abs everytime I go to the gym or do I need
to pick a day to focus on them as well? What about
bum? Can that also be something I do everytime I
go to the gym?And when I am on the eliptical will
that help me tone my legs and bum? I looked at the
hear rate scale, and I'm usually in the cardio
zone because I'm out of shape. Will I still burn
fat if my heart rate is higher than the fat
burning zone?
Answer: You can work the abs daily, you can work the butt
and legs daily too, if yo'ure just trying to rip
up and not put on mass.Yes, the cardio workout
will burn even more fat, and cardio should be a
daily part of the workout routine.

Question #33: I am a little overweight by about 30 lbs. I have just purchased an eliptical machine and a home gym.?
I need advice as to a plan to lose the extra
weight by summer. I know I should probably do my
weights 3 days a week and my eliptical 3 days a
week. Is there another program that you would
suggest? Also, is it possible to tone your
breasts without surgery?
Answer: You are right about the weights. But yiou need to
do certain areas on certain day. Like shoulders
back and biceps on Mon, Tue, Wed etc. You should
also do at least 30 minutes of cardio a day.
Running always helps to. Not sure about the
breasts. Eating right is also a must. Portion size
is key. Drink lots of water.

Question #34: Eliptical machine help please????
I got a gym membership at started a few weeks ago.
I am 47, 5"7" and weigh 150. I always
weighed in the 132-136 range as a rule or if I
didn't I could drop down to that easy. But I quit
smoking. Now it seems I cannot lose the weight. I
have done South Beach diet and have done weights
and 4 miles treadmill at a fast pace walking per
day. Tonite I tried the eliptical machine and I
could not even do more than 3 minutes straight
without stopping. I had it at a setting that was
fat burn then dropped it to cardio but still it
was awful. What setting should I have it at? Can
anyone help me out with this machine? Weight loss?
Answer: Just lower your levels using the arrow buttons.
Lower the incline a little. Experiment. As long
as you are moving that's the best part! go easy
on yourself. We love you even just as you are!!

Question #35: Eliptical Crosstrainer Calorie Meters?
I'm training for the US Navy's new Eliptical
Trainer Physical Readiness test and it uses the
calorie meter on the trainers. I was wondering if
anyone knew how these machines calculated calories
burned. A formula would be great. Thanks.
Answer: It's based on the intensity level, duration, and
cycles per minute.Don't know an exact formula, but
do know that the higher the intensity level,
longer the duration and more cycles per minute
results in higher calorie count.

Question #37: eliptical trainer question?
well, we got an eliptical about 3 weeks ago and Im
a bit confused with its counter. first of all, i
want to burn aobut 2 pounds a week. I know i have
to burn 500 calories from eating and the other 500
from exercising. I walk to and from shcool, both
30 minutes so i basically walk an hour 5 days a
week, but im not sure how many calories that
burns (so many sites tell different calories)For
the trainer, I can't do it non stop for too long
since im just starting it, but for example i do it
for 5 minutes and it burns 20 calories. is it
normal? i read people losing about 300 calories in
30 minutes. it is because they go really fast?
like, how can some do it without a break?if
someone can tell me a plan, id appreciate it. I
want to lose about 300 calories (aside from
walking) on the trainer a day. How can i break it
into different time of the days? like i do 10
minutes now, and 15 minutes in 2 hours (but of
course it burns very little)thank you ^^
Answer: Use the plans that are programmed into the
eliptical, if there isn't one in there, turn on
some music, fast and as loud as you like it to
keep you energized, or turn on the tv, that keeps
your attention, I used to watch an hour of tv and
I never wanted to leave the eliptical because then
I couldn't watch my show. If there is no program
on your eliptical, take the first 5 minutes to
warm up, just going as fast or slow as you want,
to relax and after that speed up your pace to
about 70-80% Keep that pace for 5 minutes then
increase the incline a bit for 5 minutesthen go
back to your regular setting, switch up your pace
or incline every 5 min or so. Most elipticals
have some programs in therejust experiment

Question #38: Does overdoing it on a eliptical machine cause reacuring leg pain that doesn't go away im 14 btw???
I only feel it after running around alot while im
in my PE class.I ussualy use eliptical on the
hardest difficuly until a feel sweat and soreness
on my legs for 10 minutes 3 times with 2 minutes
rests in between,phew.
Answer: It depends. If your leg hurts with a kind of sharp
pain, stinging pain, or any kind of pain that
prevents you from walking or functioning
normally....then yes, you are overdoing it. It's
okay if you want to work your hardest, but you
need to build up to it until your body is ready. If
your leg hurts due to muscle soreness...or even
cramping, it's ok and you may need to take that
rest in between like you are doing.Basically, stop
when your body tells you to stop. Work out when
you are NOT in pain. When you get the pain, stop.
If you get the pain like 1 minute into the
workout, you need to work a LOT less harder so you
won't feel the pain.To me, it does sound like you
are overdoing it. Just try to take it down a
notch and see how you feel.Next
question..elaborate on what the pain is like...how
long, how intense, when it happens.

Question #40: running on an eliptical?
I wonder if there is anything in the world called
running on an eliptical. I love running but it
does not seem to fit in my hectic schedule. I
wonder if using the eliptical will give the same
cardio benefit.?For those who "run" on
it. Do you hold the hands or use the legs only
putting your hands next to you?
Answer: I run on the eliptical trainer. The one I use
does have the "ski pole" style hand
holds. (Similar to the "Tony Little
Gazelle", but it is a full eliptical
trainer.) I do hold onto them for several
reasons:1) balance, so I don't fall off.2) it
gives my upper body some exercise as well3) the
handles have a heart rate monitor built in.I find
I can somewhat relax my legs and force just my
arms to move the eliptical. So I can alternate
back and forth between it being upper body and
lower body that I am working out, so I am doing
crosstraining this way.
