Question #32: Does anyone have recipies for a protein shake using soy protein and other things?
I am looking for healthy protein shakes that may
even take the place of a meal, that I can make
myself! Thank you everyone.
Answer: TROPICAL CHOCOLATE DREAMShake Ingredients List:1
cup skimmed milk ½ cup pineapple juice ½ cup
coconut cream (the canned stuff you would add to a
curry)½ cup sliced mango (or other tropical
fruit)1 banana1 tbsp honey (optional)3 tbsp
chocolate syrup1 scoop chocolate protein powder4
ice cubesInformation and Advice About this
Recipe:This protein drink is packed full of
different flavors and makes for a very exotic
bodybuilding recipe. It take a little more
preparation then many of the other shake recipes
on this site simply because there are so many more
ingredients. Because of this, you might think
about making a bigger batch so that you can drink
one right away and save the rest for later. The
coconut cream is, I think, a great ingredient to
add to your homemade protein shakes if you love
coconut. It adds a great creamy quality to your
drink but watch out - it can be little fattening
so if you are on a strict cutting diet or high
protein diet you may give this a miss. Instead,
you could use shredded or desiccated coconut
instead - a couple of tablespoons should do.This
drink will supply your body with energy and
nutrients thanks to the fresh fruit and pineapple
juice. Watch out for the chocolate syrup and
coconut cream if you are losing weight.

Question #36: Does soy protein powder make you gain weight?
I run 30 mins. in the morning and 30 mins. in the
evening, so I bought some because I know I'm in
need of protein. If soy protein powder can make
me gain weight, is there anything I can do or eat
to prevent it?
Answer: You will probably gain muscle weight, the extra
protein from the soy going to build them up
faster. Why worry about muscle weight though, the
cardio exercise you are doing will keep you from
getting too bulky if that is what you are afraid
of.

Question #37: What is the difference between whey protein and soy protein?
I take soy protein, but after looking at some
answers to other questions, you guys are saying
whey protein. What are the pros and cons of both,
or of other protein shakes out there.
Answer: Whey protein is probably the most popular and
makes up about 20% of the protein in milk. When
milk is curdled, the whey ends up as a separate
liquid. Unfortunately, this whey has a lot of fat,
lactose, and cholesterol, but new manufacturing
methods take care of them. 12 One way is via
ultrafiltration and microfiltration, which use
microscopic filters to physically separate the
protein from fat and lactose. This results in a
protein that's reasonably pure, with small amounts
of lactose and fat. You'll usually see this on a
nutritional label listed as "whey protein
concentrate." The other method is ion
exchange, which puts the protein through a static
electrical charge that separates the whey from the
lactose and fat. You'll usually see this product
listed as "whey protein isolate."Soy
protein is derived from a plant rather than animal
source. It's not of a very high quality, so it was
never very popular with athletes. However, a few
years back, a company called Protein Technologies
developed an advanced method for soy protein
extraction and isolation, creating a high-quality
vegetable protein. This soy protein isolate,
Supro, is the protein found in most soy protein
powders.
